We went for a flap, but not much happened. There were tornado alerts all afternoon on the radio, and that night we encountered the "Storm Chasers," who were chasing storms from the comfort of bar stools while the rain pummeled Hobbs. Their 4X4s were loaded with massive amounts of glowing electronic gear, and they wore matching outfits emblazoned with corporate logos. Apparently storm chasing pays better than thermal chasing... They just laughed when we told them we were down trying to fly, and suggested we go some place with calmer weather. As massive gust fronts ripped through town with horizontal rain, I tended to agree. But perhaps it will be better tomorrow...
