Choksondik, VI, Wi5, 225m
FA: Nov 26th 2001, Jon Walsh, Doug Sproul and Rene Cote.
This route is located on the headwall of Epaulette Mtn, To the left of Virgin No More. Access the climb by the Epaulette Mtn/Kauffman peaks col and traverse left on the upper-most snow bench. Very exposed and avalanche prone slopes below you, be very carefull! There is a very nice and big cave at the bottom of the climb for a bivy and a belay. The climb itself is VI, Wi5, 225m. There is an avalanche prone bowl between the two main curtain of ice, which came down on us during the first pitch. It's a long approach and a very engaging climb on very thin, rotten and air filled ice. A bivy was required. Be aware of the snow conditions accessing the col between VNM and Choksondik.
Now that is a ROUTE. Photo by Rene Cote/Jon Walsh
